Who We Are
We are a small, woman-owned business headquartered in the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia that creates fun, charming, and often one-of-a-kind handmade and lasered home goods, jewelry, other personal accessories, art, gifts, and other items with the assistance of a laser engraving and cutting machine. We use a variety of materials such as wood, acrylic, paper, slate, cork, bamboo, and vegan leather.
We create our own drawing files here at The Captain's Pineapple which allows for a degree of or total personalization and customization to elements such as text, images, and graphics. We can also cut any shape(s). Because of this flexibility, we are happy to work with clients to create custom orders!
We are changing (usually adding to) our product lines all the time so please check back with us often, and follow us on Facebook and Instagram to keep up with the most current launches, giveaways, and coupons!

Pineapple was once considered a luxury that could only be afforded by royalty and people of importance because it often rotted on the trade ships journeying back to Europe and North America from the Caribbean, making it a rare delicacy and a symbol of wealth.
Once home, ship captains who had been on these excursions and successfully procured one of the exotic fruits, would place a pineapple outside of their house to announce their safe return from sea and to serve as an invitation for friends and family to stop by for refreshments and to hear tales from their voyage. (If you’ll notice, a lot of bed posts, gates, iron doors, statues, welcome flags, and other outdoor decor items will have a pineapple motif incorporated in some fashion. This is why!)
Sea merchants eventually figured out that sugar would preserve the pineapples. And, as it became easier to import them, pineapples were popular to serve at parties and dinners, given as gifts, and also used as decorative items, ultimately, establishing them as a token of hospitality that is still evident in places in the US where a strong influence from European colonialism remains.
The Captain’s Pineapple is a name derived from this old world tradition that signifies hospitableness.
